MusicReview: Bebe Rexha

On Thursday, October 23 I met one of my favorite artists! This artists name as you can tell from the title is Bebe Rexha.
So I guess I should start from the beginning then, huh? Earlier this week I entered a local radio stations contest to tweet and win tickets to a private performance/ meet and greet with Bebe. Me being the extremely unlucky person I am did not think about winning. A few days later I was relaxing with friends when I got the familiar beep of a Twitter bird calling my name. I looked down at my phone screen, and to my surprise... I WON! I couldn't believe it! So immediately I reply with, "What's the next step?". Unfortunately I had to wait for that answer. The next day I receive a message from the station giving me the address and the date and time of the private concert. Once again I was just in utter shock, I mean I didn't even win dinky little school contests.

After a few boring days of class and work, it was finally Thursday. The day! Since I was allowed a plus one my friend Alicia tagged along. Once I had told her who this artist was she was just as thrilled as I! We had a little trouble that day though. You see Alicia had gotten her wallet stolen just hours before we were suppose to leave. In a frantic search with no prevail we ended up leaving almost an hour behind what we needed to. A mad dash and an hour and a half trim cut to forty minutes we managed to make it there just a short 14 minutes late. Since we were late we had to have someone take us back, and walked in during her first song. Luckily for us Ms. Bebe is a PROFESSIONAL she just kept on singing!

Bebe's first song just so happened to be the one she co-wrote with Eminem, "Monster Under My Bed". It was amazing to hear the original version performed by someone who has such raw power in her voice. After the song she told us about how when she performs that song people always comment on how well she sings the high notes and how she sounds just like the song on the radio. She then explains how on the song it really is her singing the high notes because Rhianna couldn't hit them. Of course she felt bad because of the way that sounded and immediately apologized.

Between each song she gave a little bit of history about herself and about the songs she was either going to perform or had just performed. It was a very cool experience to hear about all the neat things that went into these songs she writes. Bebe told us she never writes music for other people, that she writes for herself but if it doesn't quite fit her style she will then pass it off to someone else like Usher,or Pitbull (whom she will have a single out with soon).

Bebe's final song was her hit single "I Can't Stop Drinking About You". I am a huge fan of this song and was SOOOO pleased to hear it live!

Afterwards we got to have a little Q and A sesh, were I got the chance to ask Bebe the question I had being dying to know the answer to since I first heard the song. That question was "Where did you get the inspiration for the song?". She told me the story of how the first time she fell in love, the guy basically broke her heart and how this song isn't so much about drinking, that it's more about the hurt that comes from knowing that someone doesn't have feelings for you. Not only was that answer everything I had hoped, I knew exactly how she felt and that was why I loved the song so much.

After the Questions had been answered we all got to take some selfies and a group picture, as well as receive a signed poster of Bebe.

Overall I have a new found respect for Bebe and can now say I'm a loyal fan forever!

MusicReview: Sweet Talker

So many of you know Jessie J, but how many of you actually appreciate her music?

Jessie J if you don't know is a current pop artist who's first major hit, "Price Tag",  took off in early 2011. Since then Jessie has released several hits including "Domino","Bang Bang", and her most recent album "Sweet Talker".

Jessie's newest album covers everything from partying to the difficulties of love. "Sweet Talker" is a 15 track album and today we are gonna dive in. So fasten your seat belts and hold on tight, because here we go!

The first song on the album is "Ain't Been Done" which is an up-beat song that sets a good mood for the album ahead.

Next up we have "Burnin' Up". This song features 2 Chainz, and talks about the heat and passion of love.

She then leads you in to the albums title song "Sweet Talker". "Sweet Talker" is about a man who clearly knows what he's doing. ðŸ˜‰

Following is "Bang Bang" , which has been a huge hit all over the world! "Bang Bang" features Jessie, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj. "Bang Bang" is about the ladies of this song discussing their sexual power. Some even believe this song is the newest female empowerment anthem!

The next track featured on "Sweet Talker" goes hand in hand with "Sweet Talker".
"Fire" covers the hurt that comes from not being able to pull away from the irresistible fire of the one she doesn't want to love.

"Personal" follows "Fire" and shares Jessie past tendencies. Saying things like,

We then have my personal favorite track of the album, "Masterpiece". This song is pretty much just a 'haters gonna hate' song, and follows the same tempo of "Personal".

"Seal Me With A Kiss" is a track about Jessie seeing a boy she wants to kiss. Plain and simple!

"Said Too Much" combats a man who has wronged Jessie J! Saying you have already said to much and that it's too late for us.

"Loud" features hit YouTube violinist Lindsey Sterling, and is a song about the influence of the world. This is something many artist don't talk about, but I appreciate Jessie J doing so.

The next song, "Strip", is a song that is not what you would expect from the risqué title. "Strip" talks about baring ones true self.

The final 4 songs("Keep Us Together", "Get Away", "You Don't Really Know Me", and "Your Loss I'm Found") all talk about the struggles of relationships and love.

"Sweet Talker" overall has a smooth vibe just like most of Jessie J's music. A few of my favorites on this album include "Personal", "Masterpiece", "Fire", and of course "Sweet Talker".

Hopefully taking a little bit of appreciation for Jessie J, you can listen to "Sweet Talker" and become a Jessie J fan just like me!
