I don't know about you but nothing is worse than waking up in the morning with a either a few or a whole face full of acne. When I first started puberty I knew going into it that I would most likely have bad acne. I mean my mom still to this day has acne. Something most people do not realize is that acne is indeed hereditary. So for people like me where a parent had bad acne and still has mild acne there is just nothing you can do during puberty but fight. I have found living with acne prone skin is a constant battle, whether you eat a lot of junk food or just forget to wash your face before bed, you are always fighting those nasty blemishes! I am going to give a few tricks and tips on making the war a little less intense.
1.) Try To Eat Healthy.
Whether it's cutting out that soda, or just eating more fruits and veggies, a sure fire way to help cut down on those pimples is to change your diet. For me I have found that eating more greens and cutting as many sugary sweet drinks as possible out my diet has increased my facial beauty tenfold. If fruits and veggies aren't your thing you can do many things such as taking some vitamins and supplements. I can personally attest that Hair Skin and Nail vitamins work wonders on my skin!
2.) Oily Skin? Try Some Oil!
As crazy as it sounds, putting an oil such as coconut or almond oil on your face is a great way to cut down the grease on your mug! I know that this may baffle some people but using an oil on your face will actually trick your body into producing less oil. Your body sees that oil on your face as any other oil, except the great thing about coconut oil is the fact that it a.) absorbs into your skin leaving you with a nice healthy glow, and b.) is a natural antibacterial which will help fight the cause of the blemishes. So bye-bye face grease, hello sexy skin!
3.) Cut Out The Chemicals
I know that I myself am guilty of the crazy chemical treatments to get rid of those stubborn face demons, but you don't have to be! If you think about it, would you use such harsh chemicals in other aspects of you life? My simple answer is "NO!" . For me once I sat down and realized how bad it is to be pumping your body full of nasty chemicals and toxins I immediately googled some all natural remedies. I find that when it's time to was my face a good old ground oatmeal paste works wonders. Many lotions and shampoos are made with oatmeal so why not make a face wash as well?! Using a little ground up oatmeal with a bit of water usually does the trick for me. It's easy, it's gentle and it's all natural! So NO MORE CHEMICALS!
4.) Masks Are Your Friend!
As you may already know face masks come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, colors, and formulas. Sometimes finding the right one for you can be a challenge, a feat even! So here is a list of all my favorite masks for my oily skin type!
1. Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque
2. Freeman Facial Polishing Mask
3. Freeman Facial Clay- Avocado & Oatmeal Mask
These masks are my go to acne busters for when my face gets overwhelmed with nasty blemishes.
5.) Stop With The Stress
This for me is the main source of my acne. Whenever I get too stressed out I will breakout within a few days. I know it's a nearly impossible task but I have tried to cut as much stress from my life as I possible can and my skin and body thank me for it!
So now that you have some tips and tricks of the trade, I hope you feel more confident in your ability to fight that acne battle! Dealing with acne seems like a never ending process but eventually it will get better!
As Always
Stay Fabulous,
Tyler
