Many Oklahomans are very upset, and are making comments like "What happened to One Nation Under God?" and " I am just very disappointed in the government right now.". I am one of the, what seems like very few, Oklahomans who believes the taking down of the monument is a good decision. Not only do I believe in the separation of church and state, I believe the deconstruction of the monument will send a more positive message to Oklahomans who, either don't practice a religion or practice one that doesn't follow the "Ten Commandments".
These naysayers of the demise of the monument make me question the sanity of this state. Why do you feel the need to have a monument of your beliefs plastered on state property? Isn't the American ideal that we are a country of freedom? Making people believe what you believe is exactly the opposite of what this country is suppose to be about, and the reason for separation of church and state.
So I will leave with the question: Where do you stand on this topic?
